Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

This EH&S Manager leads the effort to eliminate, prevent, or reduce the occurrence of undesirable safety, health, and environmental issues and facilitate the positive development and maintenance of behaviors, attitudes and a safety culture that supports the goals of the Company’s EH&S programs. The successful candidate will provide guidance and technical expertise on compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local, safety, health and environmental regulations and best practices. This requires that the successful candidate remain up to date on current and proposed regulations and evaluate the impact on BSC. The successful candidate must be hands-on and will also lead a team of approximately five employees.

Education and/or Experience

BS/MS in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Engineering required.  Must have obtained, or actively in the process of obtaining certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professions (BCSP).  Recognized certifications are: OHST, CHST, ASP, and CSP.  Candidates that have CUSA certification through the National Safety Council will also be considered.    Must have a minimum of 10-15 years EH&S experience with increasing responsibility and at least 5 years of staff management experience.  Must have experience in the chemical manufacturing industry.

Skills

  • A strong knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws is required, including OSHA, DOT, NFPA, etc.
  • Must have experience in RCRA, CAA, CWA, plant safety, industrial hygiene and general safety compliance and best practices in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership and performance management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally in order to develop strong collaborative relationships with all levels of employees to effectively implement and drive EH & S program success.
  • Strong background in Process Safety Management (PSM).

R&D Scientist 

We are seeking a highly qualified Ph.D. Scientist to conduct research, synthesis, analysis, and experimentation on substances, for product and process development and application, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and improvement of synthetic methodologies during scale-up from R & D to Production. For the position of Scientist, the candidate must have excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to work closely with all departments and be a strong and independent technical leader in the development and implementation of safe, efficient, and cost effective chemical processes at the Pilot and Production scale.  The Scientist candidate may also be responsible for delegation and supervision of project teams during process development.

We will consider applicants who have the following qualifications: a Ph.D. in Chemistry with a strong synthetic background in organic and organometallic chemistry; entry level or 3-5 years of related industrial experience. Candidates who have experience as a Research or Process Chemist in a batch chemical operation will be given preference.

Chemical Operator (Pilot Plant, 3rd Shift, start date July 10)

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team in our entry level position of Chemical Operator in our Pilot Plant.  The schedule is Sunday – Thursday nights (10:30 pm – 7:00 am). Paid training will be on days (Monday-Friday, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm) for approximately 8 weeks and then you will move to 3rd shift. Pay is $17 per hour with $2 per hour night shift differential. Potential pay increases after 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and annually.

Requirements include: High school diploma or GED; good mathematical and English reading and writing skills; ability to follow detailed instruction and strong mechanical aptitude. Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and move/pivot 75+ pounds frequently and be comfortable working in variable weather conditions. Industrial experience helpful but not required.

 

Chemical  Operators (Production, Rotating Shifts, start date July 10)

We are growing and currently looking for great people to join our team in our entry level position of Chemical Production Operator.  Our Chemical Production Operators work 12 hour shifts in our production plant (schedule includes every other weekend and holidays, but work only 7 out of every 14 days); shifts rotate between days and nights every 12 weeks.  Pay is $17 per hour with $2 per hour night shift differential. Potential pay increases after 3 months, 6 months, 12 months and annually.  Paid training will be Monday-Friday on days for the first 2 weeks.

Requirements include: High school diploma or GED; good mathematical and English reading and writing skills; ability to follow detailed instruction and strong mechanical aptitude. Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and move/pivot 75+ pounds frequently and be comfortable working in variable weather conditions. Industrial experience helpful but not required.
