Scott Birmingham

Chief Executive Officer

Scott was named Chief Executive Officer of Boulder Scientific in January 2008, after contributing to the company in other roles for two decades. Prior to assuming his current position, Scott served as the company’s Vice President, Director of Operations, and also managed the Pilot Plant. He got his start in the family business in 1987, developing scandium resources and production processes. Before joining Boulder Scientific, Scott worked at the U.S. Geological Survey.

He holds a bachelor’s degree and M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.

Steve Wolfe

Chief Financial Officer

Steve joined Boulder Scientific in 2016 and brings over 40 years of financial, information technology, and administrative management experience to the company. As Chief Financial Officer, Steve manages all finance, accounting, IT, and supply chain functions for Boulder Scientific.

Prior to joining Boulder Scientific, Steve served as CFO for a series of private equity funded manufacturing companies, bringing all investments to a successful conclusion. Steve has also served as the Vice President of Finance for Hach Ultra Analytics, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Danaher Corporation. Steve is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, and Certified in Financial Management. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Commerce from the University of Louisville.

Lee Gauthier

Chief Operations Officer

Lee joined Boulder Scientific in January 2020 bringing over 25 years of progressive senior leadership experience in the Fine Chemicals, Engineered Materials, and Pharmaceutical industries. In his current role with Boulder Lee leads Manufacturing, Environmental, Health, Safety, Security, and Process & Project Engineering.

Prior to joining Boulder Scientific Lee was named Executive Officer and Vice President, Operations and Engineering at Private Equity owned Ampac Fine Chemicals, headquartered in Rancho Cordova, CA. His main focus with AFC revolved around operational excellence, OEE, and intra-company site efficiencies and flexibility in a GMP environment. Lee was the former Vice President, Global Operations at W.R. Grace headquartered in Columbia, MD accountable for Manufacturing, Environmental, Health, Safety and Security, Quality, Productivity, and Process & Capital Project Engineering. Lee started his career with Ferro Corporation holding roles of increasing responsibility within the company including Process and Production Engineer, Supply Chain Director, Procurement Manager, Plant Manager, Business Director and Global Operations Director.

Lee earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the Cain Department of Chemical Engineering at Louisiana State University and his MBA in the Flores Executive Education program also from Louisiana State University.

Alan Dyke

Chief Technology Officer

Alan Dyke joined Boulder Scientific as Chief Technology Officer in September 2020. In this role, he leads the company’s efforts in research & development, scale-up and process Safety, analytical services, and technical writing. He is also involved in business development and strategic planning, which includes coordination of external partnering relationships focused on new technology development.

Before joining Boulder Scientific, Alan worked in catalysis and organometallic products businesses for Johnson Matthey focussed on developing Precious Metals based products for the Life Sciences and Microelectronics industries. He graduated from the University of Bristol in the UK with a Masters degree in Chemistry with Industrial Experience and received his Ph.D. in Chemistry whilst working with Professor Guy Lloyd-Jones, also in Bristol.

David Morita

Vice President of Business Development

David Morita has served as Vice President of Business Development since 2015. His responsibilities include managing commercial sales orders through the production pipeline, reviewing contracts and NDAs, managing new developmental projects to meet commercialization timelines, seeking new business development opportunities, and establishing performance business development and sales metrics.

David started his career at Boulder Scientific in 2003 as a scientist in the R&D group, and moved into the role in of Technical Sales Manager six years later. He was promoted to Director of Technical Sales before assuming his current position.

Before he joined the company, David completed an appointment as a post-doctoral associate at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. He also worked at Air Products and Chemicals Inc., first as a Senior Research Chemist in the Chemical Science and Technology Center and later as a Principal Research Chemist in the Polyurethane Additives Business R&D group.

David received his bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from the University of Colorado and his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Colorado State University.
